[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Financial Supervisory Service has completed its investigation into allegations, including a violation of the Credit Information Act by mobile financial application Toss, and has begun the sanctions process. The atmosphere in the financial sector is cluttered with the recent emergence of places under investigation and sanctions by financial authorities.

According to Maeil Business on the 31st, the Financial Supervisory Service recently delivered a written opinion on the level of sanctions to Toss. The Financial Supervisory Service is reportedly considering sanctions such as "institutional caution", fines and fines, believing that Toss collected personal and credit information from 274 customers without consent and operated "my insurance" service last year.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service survey, Toss was left to be "agreed" even when the "close" button was pressed in the app due to insufficient program development and management. For this reason, Toss collected information from customers who did not want to provide personal and credit information to Toss services.

In a related development, the Financial Supervisory Service believes Toss violated the Electronic Financial Transactions Act and the Credit Information Act. Article 15 of the Credit Information Act stipulates that "when credit information companies collect personal credit information, they must obtain consent from the credit information entity concerned."

Toss explained that it was a mistake, not a deliberate violation. In order to join the "My Insurance" service, you have to go through a five- to six-step certification process, and after checking the cases of affected customers pointed out by the FSS, most of them pressed "close" just before the final stage.

Of the total 274 cases detected, about 260 cases were reported to have gone out in the middle of the app's consent process.

A Toss official said, "We will faithfully explain various situations in the future sanctions review committee process."
