[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Geocentric is planning to build a waste plastic pyrolysis plant in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, with 'Plastic Energy (Plastic Energy)', a British plastic pyrolysis company. It is the second pyrolysis plant in Korea following the "Ulsan ARC (Advanced Recycing Cluster)" pyrolysis plant, a plastic recycling complex that is set to start construction by the end of this year in Nam-gu, Ulsan, with the aim of operation in 2025.

SK Geocentric signed an Investment Agreement (MOU) with plastic energy in Frankfurt, Germany on the 31st (local time). The two companies have decided to establish a joint venture to build a 'thermal decomposition plant 2' in Songsan 2 Foreign Investment Zone, Dangjin-si, Chungnam. The specific construction and the timing of the plant's operation will be decided by the two companies in future consultation. The annual waste plastic treatment capacity of the second plant is planned to be 66,000 tons.

Based on its geographical advantage close to the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungcheong Province, the second plant can secure waste in the two regions as well as link it to Ulsan ARC. It is a structure that improves the thermal decomposition oil of the second plant to high quality at the Ulsan ARC thermal decomposition after treatment plant and injects it into the petrochemical process.
