[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] In the nation's top 30 groups, more than 500 CEOs will expire in the first half of next year. In addition to Samsung, Hyundai Motor and LG Group are expected to see their group personnel changes depending on whether about 10 CEOs serve consecutive terms, change their positions or retire.

UnicoSearch, a global headhunting company, said on the 2nd that it was revealed in the results of a survey on 'the status of in-house directors of the top 30 domestic companies who are set to expire in the first half of 2024'. Subject to the survey are the top 30 groups in the asset rankings among conglomerates designated by the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) this year, and the survey was conducted on all affiliates (listed and unlisted companies) within the group only for in-house directors, including CEOs. If the same person concurrently serves as two or more registered executives, it was calculated by identifying them as separate personnel.

According to the survey, 3,297 in-house directors have officially remained in the nation's top 30 groups since early January 2024. Of them, 1,087 will officially end their terms during the first half of next year (early January to the end of June), the survey showed. Among more than 1,000 in-house directors who officially end their terms during the first half of next year, 525 CEO-level managers hold the title of CEO. By ratio, it was 48.3%, which is nearly half.

Among the top 30 groups, Kakao Group has the largest number of in-house directors whose official terms end in the first half of next year. It is understood that 117 in-house directors in affiliates will end their terms before early July next year. Of the 117 people, 77 people, or 65.8%, were CEOs. Representatively, Kakao CEO Hong Eun-taek, Kakao Games CEO Cho Kye-hyun, Kakao Pay Shin Won-geun, Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-sun, and Keyeast CEO Park Sung-hye's current term as registered executives will officially end in March next year.

SK Group alone has found that as many as 104 in-house directors have to decide their positions before July 1 next year. Among them, 41 (39.4%) were CEOs. Park Jung-ho, vice chairman of SK Hynix, and Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, will officially expire their terms until March next year. Among other professional managers, SK Bioscience Ahn Jae-yong, SK On Ji Dong-seop, and SK Ecoplant CEO Park Kyung-il will end their terms before the end of March next year.

POSCO 78 (CEO 37), Lotte 77 (35), and SM (Samrama.) In the order of 54 (24), CJ 48 (25), and GS 47 (23), there are many in-house directors who are about to expire their terms in the first half of next year. Hanwha, which conducted a group reshuffle in October, also has 76 in-house directors (38) set to expire their terms in the first half of next year.
