[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Regarding the recently reported postponement of Blue Oval SK's second Kentucky electric vehicle battery plant, SKOn CEO Ji Dong-seop said, "We are flexibly discussing the (postponement) schedule with Ford." Blue Oval SK is a joint venture between SK On and Ford, an American automaker.
"We will flexibly operate the overall operation time of the plant in line with demand for (electric vehicle batteries) in the second half of this year and next year," CEO Ji told reporters at the "3rd Battery Industry Day" held at Lotte Hotel Seoul in Jamsil, Seoul on the 1st.
Regarding the impact of slowing demand for electric vehicles, "The consumption of electric vehicles seems to be slowing down a little bit under high interest rates," he said. "However, institutions' prospects for the supply of electric vehicles by 2030 are gradually increasing."
Meanwhile, Ji won the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit for the first time in the battery industry.
