[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Park Chan-koo, honorary chairman of Kumho Petrochemical Group, will return to the management front. It has been about six months since he stepped down as chairman in May and about two months since he was reinstated as a special envoy for Liberation Day.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system, Kumho Mitsui Chemical announced on the 2nd that it appointed honorary chairman Park as co-CEO on the 5th of last month. The Japanese representative of Kumho Mitsui Chemical is Hiroshitaka Ishimori, vice president of Kumho Mitsui Chemical. Kumho Mitsui Chemical was founded in 1989 by Kumho Petrochemical and Mitsui Chemical of Japan with a score of 50 to 50.
The appointment of the CEO is reportedly due to Kumho Mitsui Chemical's request for weighty personnel so that he can play a pivotal role in the partnership between the two companies. As a result, On Yong-hyun, the president of the Korean side, has stepped down from his post.
Honorary Chairman Park previously served as a co-CEO of Kumho Mitsui Chemical from 2000 to 2002 and 2010 to 2021.
