[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Display has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) against China's BOE for violating trade secrets. Following the existing patent infringement lawsuit, the dispute between the two companies seems to be escalating.

According to the industry on the 3rd, Samsung Display filed a complaint with ITC on the 31st of last month (local time) against eight companies, including BOE and BOE subsidiaries, for infringement of trade secrets.

Infringement of trade secrets is a malicious takeover of technology through business partners and former and current executives and employees.

This is different from Samsung Display's previous patent infringement lawsuit against BOE, including diamond pixels on the iPhone's organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel.

Samsung Display wrote in its petition that BOE has violated its trade secrets on its OLED panel and module technologies through Toptec, a partner of Samsung Display, since 2017. They claim that they have detected circumstantial evidence that Chinese companies such as BOE were involved in the leak of Toptec's trade secrets.

Toptec's executives and employees, including the former CEO of Toptec, who leaked Samsung Display's trade secrets to the Supreme Court in July, were convicted.

When a lawsuit is filed, the U.S. ITC usually decides whether to launch an investigation within 30 days. It is expected to decide whether to start the investigation early next month.
