[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The explosive increase in trading volume on the first day of the ban on short selling caused errors in the mobile trading system (MTS) of Kiwoom Securities (039490), which has a high brokerage market share.
Kiwoom Securities said on the 7th that an error occurred regarding the automatic log account connection and is currently being checked by the department in charge. An automatic log refers to a trading log in which the balance by date, the details of daily and item sales can be checked, and an investor can prepare a general review or memo. The cause of the error has yet to be determined.
The error is believed to have occurred due to a surge in transaction prices on the first day of the ban on short selling. According to the Korea Exchange, the KOSPI market transaction amounted to 14.94 trillion won on the same day. Compared to the 3rd, the previous trading day, it increased by 6.8991 trillion won (85.79%). Trading on the KOSDAQ market also rose 4.4611 trillion won from the previous trading day to 11.188 trillion won.
"We have received a complaint about an error and it is currently being handled by the department in charge," a Kiwoom Securities official said. "
