[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Krafton recorded a "surprise performance" (earning surprise) that surpassed stock market expectations in the third quarter thanks to sales of its flagship PUBG: Battleground.
The operating profit ratio was 43.9%, ranking first among domestic game-listed companies. Since its listing in August 2021, Krafton has maintained its operating profit ratio at the top of the domestic game company.
Krafton announced on the 7th that its consolidated operating profit in the third quarter was KRW 189.3 billion, up 30.9% from the same period last year.
This is more than 30.1% of the market forecast of 145.5 billion won compiled by financial information provider FnGuide.
Sales reached 450.3 billion won, up 3.8% from the same period last year. Net profit fell 6.6 percent to 211.6 billion won.
Krafton said, "Traffic and sales recovered after the resumption of Battleground Mobile India (BGMI) service, and operating profit grew by maintaining an efficient cost execution stance."
BGMI is an Indian version of Battleground Mobile, which was blocked by Indian authorities in July last year but resumed in May this year.
