[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Coupang said that the online posting that bedbugs appeared in its logistics center or delivery bag was "groundless."

"The false rumors are spreading through some social networking services (SNS)," a Coupang official said on the 8th. "The company thoroughly manages all logistics sites through regular disinfection by specialized companies, and there have been no cases of related pests so far."

Earlier, it spread rapidly as it said that bedbugs came out of the Coupang logistics center or shipping fresh bag. There were also various areas where bedbugs were identified.

A Coupang official said, "We have asked the police to investigate the first distributors who spread false information and those who spread false rumors and will hold them legally responsible."

Online, an article that found bedbugs in clothes after using trains such as KTX and subways became a hot topic.

Currently, the government has set up a 'joint government countermeasures headquarters' to focus on preventing bedbugs and spreading them. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to carry out quarantine and prevention measures for public transportation facilities during the "intensive inspection and prevention period of bedbugs" scheduled from the 13th to the 8th of next month.

On the same day, Songpa Police Station in Seoul said it has launched an investigation into a false information distributor who wrote that "bed bugs appeared in the Coupang delivery product" after receiving a complaint from Coupang on the 7th.
