[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Shinsegae Group announced on the 16th that it has appointed Lim Young-rok, Shinsegae Property and CEO of Chosun Hotel & Resort, as head of its management strategy office.

Since its establishment in 1993, the management strategy office has been in charge of coordinating and directing the management of affiliates, business, finance and personnel. It is a key organization that connects Shinsegae and E-Mart and creates synergy throughout the group. Chairman Lee is known to influence the entire group through the Strategy Office. For this reason, the industry believes that the replacement of the head of the strategic office contains Chairman Lee's intention to reform the organizational atmosphere.

The personnel reshuffle is expected to further expand Lim's influence within Shinsegae Group. Born in Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, he joined Shinsegae Construction in August 1997. Since then, he has worked as a managing director of the group's strategic office and new business PJT. He was promoted to vice president of Shinsegae Property in 2015 and was appointed as CEO in December of the following year. Since his regular appointment in September, he has also served as CEO of Chosun Hotel & Resort. The replacement of the head of the management strategy office is expected to speed up the group's follow-up personnel appointments and reorganization.
