[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Vice President Choi Hee-moon, who led Meritz Securities for about 14 years and was named the longest-serving CEO of the securities industry, moved to the holding company.

According to the financial investment industry on the 22nd, Vice President Choi has been the CEO of Meritz Securities since 2010. He won four consecutive terms last year. Choi, Vice President, led Meritz Securities and showed the best performance for six consecutive years until last year. Last year, it joined the 1 trillion club for the first time.

However, this year, several accidents related to Meritz Securities broke out and began to be blamed. Meritz Securities was embroiled in allegations that it avoided losses by using internal information while selling a large number of shares just before the suspension of Ewha Electro-Mechanics. A survey also found that executives and employees of corporate finance (IB) made billions of private gains from information acquired at work.

Against this backdrop, Vice Chairman Choi moved to a holding company. It has established a holding-oriented management system by establishing an operating and debt division in a holding company, which has moved from holding company to general management of the group.

Jang Won-jae, who worked hard to manage risks, was appointed as the new CEO amid various issues at Meritz Securities.

Chang, the new CEO, joined Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance as managing director of risk management in 2015 and served as chief risk management officer (CRO) and vice president of risk management at Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance until 2020. From 2021 to 2022, he was promoted to vice president of Meritz Securities' sales and trading (Sales & Trading) division and was promoted to president of Meritz Securities at the end of last year.
