Kim Sung-hwan, the new CEO of Korea Investment & Securities, is an 'IB expert'

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kim Sung-hwan (54), vice president of Korea Investment & Securities, will sit down from his post as CEO of Korea Investment & Securities for five years. It has been 19 years since I joined Korea Investment & Securities.

Korea Investment & Finance Holdings Co. on the 23rd appointed Kim Sung-hwan, vice president of its personal customer group, as its chief executive officer at a board meeting.

After graduating from Korea University's Department of Economics, Kim completed his master's and doctorate in real estate at Konkuk University's Graduate School. He moved from Kyobo Life Insurance to LG Investment & Securities (currently NH Investment & Securities) in 2001 and joined Dongwon Securities (currently Korea Investment & Securities) in 2004. Since then, he has served as head of the bond issuance market (DCM), head of the real estate finance center, and head of the project finance division (director) and was promoted to the youngest executive director in 2012.

Kim is the first real estate PF 1 generation to introduce project financing (PF) for insurance companies when he was working at Kyobo Life Insurance.

In recognition of his expertise in PF, he served as head of IB Group in 2016 and vice president of management planning in 2017. CEO Kim was assessed to have led the Korea Investment & Securities IB leap by showing his capabilities at the time of the head of the IB Group, and was promoted to vice president in a year in recognition of the contribution.

Since 2019, CEO Kim has led the retail and asset management (WM) business as the head of the individual customer group. In particular, while leading the individual customer group, the company has shown results in raising the size of individual customer assets to the top of the industry through differentiated product supply and asset management competitiveness.
