[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Ecopro BM, a secondary battery materials company, signed a long-term supply contract with Samsung SDI for large-scale cathode materials. Anode material is a key material that determines battery capacity.
Ecoprobm announced on March 3 that it has signed a long-term supply contract with Samsung SDI for battery anode materials. The contract period is five years from January 2024 to December 2028, and the supply amount is about 44 trillion won.
EcoproBM said, "We plan to supply supplies from Pohang campus in 2024 and to Samsung SDI's Hungarian plant in time for the completion of the plant in Hungary from 2025."
Ecopro is building an Ecopro Global Hungarian business in Debrechen, Hungary. Construction began in April and aims to mass-produce it in 2025. The total project cost is 1.3 trillion won and the production facility size is about 100,000 8000t.
The Hungarian plant, along with EcoproBM, is expected to reduce manufacturing costs and increase synergy by participating in ECOPRO family history, such as Ecopro-innovation, which will handle the lithium hydroxide process, and EcoproAP, which supplies nitrogen and oxygen.
