Samsung Heavy Industries has secured an order for four LNG carriers, achieving 51% of its annual target for this year.

[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 1st that it has signed a construction contract with a shipowner in the Middle East for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
These vessels will be delivered to the shipowner sequentially by August 2028. Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured orders for 22 vessels so far this year. The orders comprise 19 LNG carriers, 2 very large ammonia carriers (VLAC), and 1 shuttle tanker.
In terms of value, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured orders worth $4.9 billion, achieving 51% of its annual target of $9.7 billion. The current order backlog stands at $33.7 billion.
