Hyundai Motor will sell its Casper electric vehicle model (tentative name Casper Electric) online, which will be introduced in the second half of 2024.

This means that electric vehicles can be purchased with just a click of a mouse without having to visit offline stores. It is interpreted as a strategy to increase customer convenience and expand the market with online sales familiar to the MZ generation, which has become a major consumer.

According to the auto industry on the 13th, Hyundai Motor has decided to sell its light sport utility vehicle (SUV) Casper Electric online, which will be produced as early as July next year. Following the internal combustion engine model released in September 2021, the electric vehicle model will be sold only in a non-face-to-face manner online. Casper is the only car in the domestic market that applies this method.

Hyundai Motors plans to focus on the MZ generation with online sales of its first light electric vehicle, Casper Electric. These customers are emerging as the main consumers in the light electric vehicle market. In fact, Kia received pre-contracts for about 6,000 small electric vehicle ray EVs in the second half of this year, with a large proportion of individual customers (72%) in their 30s and 40s, including 30% in their 30s and 42% in their 40s.

Online sales are expanding in the finished car industry. This is because customers have the convenience of easily checking and purchasing vehicle information online without being limited by time and place. It also has the advantage of saving various costs from offline store operations. Tesla and Polestar are selling all electric cars sold in Korea online.
