[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver Webtoon, which is pursuing an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, is expanding its global business. It has hired David Lee, a former financial official, as Naver Webtoon's U.S. headquarters and has been speeding up its work to supply its own content to overseas platforms.
According to Naver Webtoon on the 15th, the company has recently established a management plan for next year aimed at expanding its global business. The key is to grow into a "global story tech company" by pushing for Naver's IPO in the U.S. stock market next year. Naver founder and Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin is said to be a member of the board of directors of Webtoon Entertainment, the U.S. headquarters of Naver Webtoon, and take care of major issues directly.
Webtoon Entertainment recently hired David Lee as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). David Lee is former general manager of Best Buy, the largest distributor in the U.S. He has more than 25 years of experience in US companies, including Delmont Food Strategy and Finance, Impossible Food CFO and COO.
