[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The reason for Apple not to choose LG Innotek as the folded zoom actuators supplier in the next generation iPhone was released lately. It was known that LG provided Apple incorrect data set.
According to Alpha Biz article on the 19th, Apple didn’t select LG Innotek as a folded zoom actuator supplier for its next-generation iPhone, because LG Innotek’s testing results were erroneous.
According to Apple, LG Innotek submitted a test report for the production of folded zoom actuators but they submitted incorrect data
Apple decided to keep LG Innotek as the supplier of camera modules for iPhones. Because of the principle of good faith, Apple didn’t choose LG Innotek as the supplier of folded Zoom actuators while keep the company as the supplier of camera modules.
An official familiar with LG's internal affairs said, "The fact that Apple has excluded suppliers is a top secret matter that is not even shared with the LG Innotek department," and added, "I understand that LG Innotek is making efforts to overturn Apple's decision."
According to related industries, Apple's supplier decision is cautious, but it is hard to reverse once a decision is made.
Company A, a former Apple supplier, was excluded from suppliers after trading with partners other than Apple's designation in 2018, and has yet to recover its status.
Apple's decision has confirmed that ICT of China's Lux Share will replace LG Innotek's vacancy.
Regarding this, LG Innotek said, "This is not true at all. In addition, LG Innotek continues to cooperate as strategic customers in North America and is developing a solid partnership based on the trust that has been built with customers over the years."
