[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Policy financial institutions such as the Korea Development Bank, the Industrial Bank of Korea, and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund will supply a total of 212 trillion won in policy funds to future food businesses such as semiconductors and secondary batteries next year.

The Financial Services Commission on the 19th held the "5th Policy Financial Support Council" at Front One in Mapo, Seoul, along with the Korea Development Bank and other policy financial institutions and related ministries, and said it has set the supply of policy financing at a total of 212 trillion won next year. This is an increase of 3.4% compared to this year.

It will focus on supplying 102 trillion +α of funds to the five major strategic areas for future food, including high-tech and new industries, up 11.5 percent from the previous year.

Five major strategic areas are △ fostering global super-gap industries (17.6 trillion won), △ supporting future promising industries (22.1 trillion won), △ reorganizing existing businesses and upgrading industrial structure (21.4 trillion won), △ fostering unicorn ventures, small and medium-sized enterprises (12.6 trillion won) △ solving management difficulties (28.7 trillion won).

The focus was on helping South Korean companies maintain an overwhelming technology gap in response to intensifying global competition in areas where they have a technological advantage, such as semiconductors, secondary batteries and displays.

In the field of fostering unicorn companies, we have actively added support for mid-sized companies that enter new industries, companies with intellectual property rights, and local leading companies.

The areas to resolve management difficulties included funding to prepare for the continuation of the three-high status quo and a possible slowdown in the economic outlook.
