[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kakao Entertainment's North American webtoon and web novel platform tapas application (app) has recently surpassed 200 million won in daily transactions.

According to the industry on the 4th, the daily transaction amount of Tapas app recorded 168,000 dollars (about 220 million won) on the 1st. This is the highest in about a year and five months since Kakao Entertainment launched Tapas Entertainment by merging webtoon platform Tapas Media and web novel Rash in August 2022.

In the North American market, webtoons are not well known and paid payments are not familiar. As a result, some predicted that it could take more time to achieve 200 million won in daily transactions, but the goal was achieved at a rapid pace. Kakao Page also took about two years and two months to achieve 200 million won in daily transactions since it launched its webtoon and web novel app service in Korea in April 2013.

Kakao Entertainment will launch Korean web novels in Tapas in September last year and expand web novels this year.
