[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kim Oh-young, the eldest son of Maeil Holdings Chairman Kim Jung-wan, was promoted to executive director. The succession process for third-generation management is expected to accelerate.
According to the industry on the 4th, Maeil Dairies announced the promotion of two executives, including Kim Oh-young, director of production and logistics innovation, through an in-house network last month. With this personnel reshuffle, there will be no change in duties and only the position will be promoted from E1 (director level) to E2 (executive level). It's been three years since I joined the company.
Kim Oh-young was born in 1986 and is the eldest son of Maeil Dairies Chairman Kim Jung-wan. After studying in the United States, he joined Shinsegae Group in 2014 and worked at department stores and Starfield I joined Maeil Dairy in October 2021. He is currently in a fifth cousin relationship with Vice Chairman Kim Sun-hee, who leads Maeil Dairies as a professional manager.
Analysts say Kim's promotion is a step toward third-generation management. However, it is essential to expand Kim's stake in earnest. Kim owns only 0.01% of Maeil Holdings and Maeil Dairies.
