[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] According to industry sources on the 5th, a fire broke out at the Torres Customization Process at KG Mobility's Pyeongtaek plant at around 6 a.m. on the 24th of last month.
At KG Mobility's Pyeongtaek plant, there was also a fire early last month due to a short circuit of the PIT inspection line at the assembly plant. Earlier in mid-November last year, a fire broke out at the assembly plant 1's body process heater. As a result, there have been three fire accidents in the past two months, raising employees' anxiety.
KG Mobility is seeking to relocate the plant to solve the aging problem of the Pyeongtaek plant. It is intended to build a new small and old factory on a large site.
The problem is the cost of relocating the factory. The site for the plant in the Hyeondeok district is currently known to exceed 3 million won per 3.3 square meters. KG Mobility needs at least 1.2 trillion won to secure an area of more than 1.3 million square meters of plants. In addition, the sale price of the existing Pyeongtaek plant is not enough to build a new factory with high-tech facilities.
