[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] Asiana Airlines pilots' union announced on the 8th that they have approved the tentative agreement on wage negotiations for the year 2023.

The Asiana pilot union conducted a vote on the tentative agreement for last year's wage negotiations from the 2nd to the morning of the 8th. The results showed 81.1% (791 members) in favor and 18.9% (184 members) opposed, leading to the approval of the agreement.

Out of 1119 union members, 975 participated in the vote, recording a turnout rate of 87.1%.

Asiana Airlines management and the pilot union are scheduled to hold a joint signing ceremony for the interim agreement in the afternoon of the same day.

Last month, on the 26th, Asiana Airlines management and the pilot union reached a tentative agreement that included a 7.5% increase in basic pay and flight allowances, as well as the full payment of safety incentives based on basic pay.

Regarding the approval of this agreement, the pilot union stated, "Although it is not a completely satisfactory wage negotiation agreement, considering the difficult circumstances of the company and the significant issue of acquisition and merger, we decided to agree on it in a largely positive manner."

An Asiana Airlines official expressed hope that this negotiation could lead to the formation of a constructive labor-management relationship.
