[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] One of HMM's two major labor unions notified the management of the breakdown of collective bargaining and began preparations for a strike.

The HMM Maritime Union has been in collective bargaining with management since October last year. The union is calling for the extension of the retirement age, the recalculation of ordinary wages, the expansion of holidays due to overtime work, the recruitment of agency members, and the early introduction of Internet Starlink MyTime on board.

The HMM Maritime Union is also opposed to Harim Group's selection as the preferred bidder for the sale of HMM. On the 18th, it plans to hold a forum at the National Assembly with the HMM branch of the Korean Office and Financial Services Workers' Union, titled "Is the sale of HMM okay?"
