[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Chung Eun-bo (63), former head of the Financial Supervisory Service, was recommended as the next chairman of the Korea Exchange.

According to the financial investment industry on the 19th, the Korea Exchange's recommendation committee for board members selected Chung as the sole candidate after screening and interviewing seven registered candidates.

The exchange will hold a board meeting sometime next week to decide on an extraordinary shareholders' meeting. The stock exchange shareholders' meeting is expected to hold a shareholders' meeting around the middle of next month to complete the process of appointing a chairman.

career in public office in 1984 and served as head of the economic analysis division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, director of the insurance system division, director of the financial policy division and international financial policy officer (director-general level) at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance before serving as assistant secretary of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in 2013, chairman of the Securities and Futures Commission in 2016-17 and head of the Financial Supervisory Service in 2021-22.
