[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Lotte Well Food has chosen India as its first Pepero overseas production base.
Lee Chang-yeop, CEO of Lotte Well Food, visited India on the 31st and announced a plan to invest 2.1 billion rupees (about 33 billion won) in the Haryana plant of Lotte India, a local corporation.
Lotte Well Food plans to build an automation line that produces "Original Pepero" and "Crunky Pepero" by securing idle space in the Haryana plant for local production in mid-2025.
Pepero, released in 1983, has produced and exported all of its products in domestic factories so far. Lotte Well Food acquired a local company, Parrys, in 2004 and entered India.
Lotte Well Food plans to introduce the best product to suit the taste of Indians through local production of Pepero, its flagship brand, following Choco Pie.
