[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport withdrew the suspension of business for eight months by applying the zero-tolerance principle to construction business groups, including GS Engineering & Construction, which has been cited as the main cause of the collapse of the underground parking lot of the Geomdan apartment in Incheon.
All three construction companies subject to business suspension are expected to take a considerable amount of time before the administrative disposition interferes with actual business activities, signaling a response through the lawsuit, including applying for an injunction.
On the 1st, GS Engineering & Construction Co., Dongbu Engineering & Construction Co. and Daebo Engineering & Construction Co. expressed their position that they will take legal action against the ministry's administrative disposition to suspend operations.
On the same day, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport imposed an eight-month suspension on five construction operators, including GS Engineering & Construction Co., Dongbu Engineering & Construction Co. and Daebo Engineering & Construction Co., for the collapse of the underground parking lot of the Geomdan apartment in Incheon in April last year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport cited that the companies caused serious damage to major parts of the structure of the facilities by intentional or gross negligence under the "Framework Act on the Construction Industry."
The suspension period will be from April 1 to November 30, and the three companies will be subject to disposal of civil engineering and landscape construction projects.
GS Engineering & Construction immediately expressed its position to file an injunction for suspension of execution and a lawsuit to cancel administrative disposition. They argue that there is a problem with the adequacy of administrative sanctions.
