Naver and Kakao's webtoons reached nearly 2 trillion won in transactions in Japan

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] South Korea's two largest platforms, Naver and Kakao's webtoon content business, achieved record-high results last year in Japan, with transactions reaching nearly 2 trillion won. The two companies plan to expand their services to global markets such as North America, Southeast Asia and Europe in the future.
According to the industry on the 5th, Naver and Kakao are currently keying the Japanese webtoon platform industry. Last year, the digital cartoon platform "Piccoma," run by Kakao Piccoma, a subsidiary of Kakao's webtoon content, surpassed 100 billion yen (about 902.4 billion won) in transactions, the highest ever. Piccoma has also topped the list of the highest consumer spending apps in all categories of the Japanese application (app) market.
The combined transaction value of Line Manga and eBookJapan, digital cartoon platforms operated by Naver Webtoon in the Japanese market, also exceeded 100 billion yen between January and November last year, marking the highest performance.
