[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kolon Group's holding company announced on the 2nd that it recorded consolidated sales of 5.8895 trillion won and operating profit of 103.7 billion won last year. Sales rose 4.1 percent year-on-year and operating profit fell 66.6 percent.
Kolon Industries saw its performance decline due to weak demand stemming from the global economic recession. However, the company expects to improve its performance thanks to the full-scale operation of Aramid expansion this year and the completion of Aramid pulp and PMR expansion.
Kolon Global, a subsidiary, has increased orders in the non-housing sector, which is less volatile than private housing, in response to the slowing construction industry. Despite high interest rates and inflation, Kolon Mobility Group achieved sales growth year-on-year in the first year of its launch, driven by Volvo, which achieved the highest annual sales with the launch of the new BMW 5 series.
