[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hong Min-taek, the first bank president of Internet bank Toss Bank, will step down from the management front next month.
"We have solidified our foundation for moving to the future from Toss Bank's preparatory corporation to turning into a surplus and becoming a bank with 10 million customers," CEO Hong said in a meeting with executives and employees on the 15th. "We have decided that the bank that has a new turning point needs new leadership." He will resign on the 28th of next month after completing his three-year term.
In January 2021, Hong was appointed as the head of Toss Bank's preparatory corporation. Since then, he has led both Toss Bank's own house and growth. Launched in October 2021, Toss Bank posted a net profit surplus in the third quarter following a monthly surplus in July last year. The number of customers increased to 9 million and assets to 25 trillion won. Through nine paid-in capital increases, the capital also increased to 1.94 trillion won.
