[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will join hands with Diehl Defense, a German missile defense company, to strengthen the arming of domestic fighter jets and target the European market.
KAI announced on the 19th (local time) that it signed a 'MOU' at the Diehl Defense office in Berlin, Germany, and decided to strengthen its strategic partnership. Diehl Defense is a German missile company that mainly develops and produces short-range air-to-air missile IRIS-Ts.
In the agreement, the two companies will strengthen the armed capabilities of Korean fighter jets and push for joint marketing of potential exporters centered on the European market.
KAI plans to install the Diehl Defense's IRIS-T in the Korean supersonic fighter KF-21 and plan to expand it to the light attack aircraft FA-50 in the future.
