[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The new work "ROM," which has been cited as a promising player to lead Kakao Games' performance this year, has been embroiled in a plagiarism dispute even before its release.
The "plagiarism controversy" that game streamers have raised since the beta test last month has become a reality due to NCsoft's lawsuit.
NCsoft announced on the 22nd that it filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Court against Kakao Games and Red Lab Games, saying that Kakao Games' new MMORPG (multi-access role-playing game) "ROM" plagiarized Lineage W.
RedLab Games is an ROM developer and is in charge of publishing by Kakao Games. In addition, NCsoft said it has also filed a complaint with Taiwan's Intellectual Property and Commercial Court against copyright law and Fair Trade Act.
