[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 23rd, Hanmi Semiconductor announced that it had won both the first and second trials in the lawsuit for prohibiting unfair competition against former employee A, who moved to competitor Hanwha Precision Machinery.
According to Hanmi Semiconductor, A worked in the core equipment research and development department, including TC bonder and flip chip bonder, until 2021, then transferred to Hanwha Precision Machinery. Hanmi Semiconductor filed a lawsuit for prohibiting unfair competition, winning the first trial on August 23 last year, and the second trial (held at Suwon High Court) on the 2nd of this month. A decided not to appeal.
A Hanmi Semiconductor official stated, "The transfer of an employee who was in charge of the core technology of TC bonder, an essential process equipment for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor high bandwidth memory (HBM), to a competitor raised concerns about violating the obligation to protect trade secrets, leading us to file a lawsuit for prohibiting unfair competition."
