[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Asiana Airlines has postponed the transfer of its cargo business to Air Incheon by one month to August 1, citing delays in obtaining regulatory approvals from the European Commission and Japan’s Fair Trade Commission.
Originally scheduled for July 1, the transfer is part of a remedy to secure antitrust clearance for Korean Air’s acquisition of Asiana. The deal includes 11 cargo aircraft and around 800 employees, valued at ₩470 billion.
Once completed, Air Incheon is expected to become Korea’s second-largest cargo carrier, following Korean Air. The company is preparing to expand long-haul operations with additional freighters, including routes to the U.S.
