[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Art Center Nabi has decided not to appeal the first trial verdict in the museum's eviction lawsuit concerning its location in the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
On the 15th, Art Center Nabi released a statement saying, "We have decided not to appeal the first trial verdict in the museum's eviction lawsuit filed by SK Innovation." However, they also expressed strong regret towards SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and SK Group for not taking appropriate actions such as withdrawing the lawsuit, despite the Seoul High Court ruling that it was inappropriate to demand the museum to vacate the SK Seorin Building.
The statement continued, "Despite this, Art Center Nabi respects the judiciary's decision that we have no choice but to accept SK's unreasonable demand under civil law, and thus we have decided not to appeal." They also mentioned their commitment to overcoming the current difficulties and continuing to uphold the legacy of the late Park Gye-hee, the mother of Chairman Chey and founder of the museum's predecessor, Walkerhill Art Museum. They emphasized their dedication to ensuring that the emotional impact of art can bring about positive changes in society.
SK Innovation also did not file an appeal by the deadline, which was the 9th, thereby concluding the real estate handover lawsuit in the first trial.
