[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hotel Shilla CEO Lee Boo-jin will sell 5.24 million shares of Samsung Electronics through a block deal.
According to the investment banking (IB) industry on the 9th, President Lee has begun forecasting demand to sell 5,247,140 shares of Samsung Electronics through Hana Bank.
The estimated sale price per share is 83,700 won to 84,500 won, and the total sale size is 440 billion won.
It is analyzed that President Lee's push for the block deal is to dispose of Samsung Electronics' shares to pay inheritance taxes. Currently, the inheritance tax that the Samsung family has to pay amounts to 12 trillion won.
In January, Lee also sold his stake along with his mother, Hong Ra-hee, former director of the Samsung Museum of Art, and his younger brother, Lee Seo-hyun, president of strategic planning at Samsung C&T. Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS and Samsung Life Insurance totaled 558.6 billion won.
