[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics has announced the industry's first solid-state drive (SSD) optimized for autonomous vehicles, using 8th-generation V-NAND technology.
On September 24th, Samsung revealed that it had completed the development of the PCIe 4.0 automotive SSD, named "AM9C1," utilizing its latest 8th-generation V-NAND.
The new 256GB SSD is designed to support on-device AI functions within vehicles. It features a 5nm-based controller, enhanced board-level reliability testing, and supports SLC mode functionality.
The SLC mode allows the SSD to switch from TLC to SLC, increasing read/write speeds for faster access to large files within the vehicle.
The product meets the AEC-Q100 Grade 2 standard, which ensures stable performance in a wide temperature range, from -40°C to 105°C, making it suitable for automotive environments.
