[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On the 21st, Doosan Enerbility announced that it has secured a contract for a power plant fuel conversion project in Chile. This project involves converting the fuel of the 375-megawatt (MW) IEM (Infraestructura Energenica Mejillones) power plant in Chile from coal to natural gas.
Doosan Enerbility will supply and install its own developed burners and related equipment at this power plant to convert it into a natural gas power plant that produces the same amount of electricity as the existing one.
This power plant will operate under Chile's environmental regulations and Enji Group's carbon-neutral policy until 2025. After approximately six months of construction, it is expected that carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will be reduced by around 40% and nitrogen oxides (NOX) by approximately 70% compared to the existing method.
