[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK ON announced on the 27th that it has signed a 'Business Agreement (MOU) for Battery Cell Technology Innovation' with Italian supercar brand Ferrari. SK On is the only company that supplies batteries to Ferrari.
Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK ON and Benedetto Vigna, promised to cooperate for battery technology development at the signing ceremony held at SK Seorin Corporation in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul on the 25th. SK On and Ferrari decided to exchange their batteries and automobile manufacturing technologies more actively.
The two companies formed a relationship in 2019 when SK On supplied batteries to Ferrari's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model "SF90 Stradale" and convertible version "SF90 Spider." The "SF90 XX Stradale" and "SF90 XX Spider," which Ferrari introduced as limited edition special series last year, are also equipped with SK-on batteries.
In addition to Ferrari, SK On currently supplies batteries to Hyundai Motor, Ford, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.
