[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyosung Group said Cho Seok-rae, honorary chairman of Hyosung Group, died of a chronic ailment on the 29th at the age of 89.
Cho Seok-rae is the second chairman of Hyosung Group and led the group for 35 years from 1982 to 2017. He is the eldest son of Hyosung Group founder Cho Hong-je and has been the second chairman of Hyosung Group since 1982 when he was 48 years old.
Born in Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do, he graduated from Waseda University in Japan. After being called by the late Chairman Cho Hong-je, he participated in the construction of the Dongyang Nylon Ulsan plant, the mother of Hyosung, in 1966 and participated in full-fledged group management. Based on the original technology, Hyosung's entire business sector, including textiles, high-tech materials, heavy industries, chemicals, trade and financial informatization devices, has grown into a global company.
