[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Taiwan's the world's largest semiconductor consignment production (foundry) company, said it has restored more than 80 percent of its plant facilities damaged by the earthquake.

 

According to Reuters and Bloomberg News on the 4th, "More than 80% of the plant's facilities have been restored," and "We will resume construction." However, some lines are expected to need more time to resume production.

"Some of the production lines were damaged by the earthquake, but the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) exposure equipment was not damaged," the TSMC said in a statement shortly after the earthquake. "We are mobilizing all of our resources for complete recovery."

Meanwhile, the 18th plant in Tainan is the most recently completed and the world's most advanced 3nm and 5nm process semiconductor manufacturing plant. Foreign media claimed that some state-of-the-art semiconductors are produced in a vacuum environment at 24-hour factories, adding that if the production facilities stopped for a while, the semiconductors produced may have been damaged.
