[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Tesla has stopped accepting orders for the cheapest version of its Cybertruck. According to Fox Business, as of the 11th, Tesla will no longer accept orders for the $61,000 model, and the option for this model is no longer available on Tesla's website. The least expensive Cybertruck now available for order is priced at $100,000 or more.
Sam Abuelsamid, an analyst at Guidehouse Insights, commented on the move, stating that it indicates demand for the Cybertruck is significantly less than 100,000 units. He noted that there is a large inventory of trucks with multiple motors (dual-motor and tri-motor configurations).
The Cybertruck was first unveiled in 2019 and features a distinctive angular design inspired by the movie "Blade Runner" and a stainless steel body. It received significant attention after receiving 187,000 pre-orders just two days after its announcement.
