[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyosung T&C, the world's No. 1 spandex company, will invest a total of 1 trillion won in the eco-friendly bio raw material business to foster new businesses in the future.
Hyosung T&C announced on the 3rd that it plans to build a biobutane Dior (BDO) production plant in Vietnam with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons.
BDO is a chemical material used as a raw material for poly tetramethylene glycol (PTMG), which makes spandex fibers, and has recently been used in various industries such as biodegradable resins (PBAT) such as automobile interior materials (TPU) and packaging materials.
Bio BDO is a product that replaces 100% of the existing fossil fuel, which is manufactured by fermenting sugar from sugar cane and corn, and is attracting attention in the eco-friendly material market.
"The investment will secure the world's largest bio spandex plant in Vietnam," Hyosung T&C said. "In particular, it is the first time in the world to have a bio spandex consistent production system through vertical integration from raw materials to textiles."
