[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] Iran Air has announced the complete suspension of its European routes, as reported by Iranian semi-official news agency ILNA on October 15 (local time).
Masoud Asadi Samani, a spokesperson for the Iranian Airline Association (AIRA), stated, "As the only airline operating flights from Iran to Europe, Iran Air will not operate any flights to Europe considering the newly imposed sanctions."
Samani added that some services will be replaced by connecting flights through Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The day before, the European Union (EU) added seven individuals and seven entities, including Iran Air and Mahan Air, to its sanctions list due to their involvement in providing missile and drone support to Russia.
The EU's official publication indicated that these airlines had been repeatedly used to transfer Iranian drones and related technologies to Russia.
