[Alpha Biz= Kim Sangjin] Neptune announced on Monday that it has completed the acquisition of 51.37% of the shares in Phantom, a mobile game development company.
Phantom was founded in 2019 by CEO Kim Sang-heon, the creator of "Abyssrium," and Kim Dong-jun, who oversaw "Middle-aged Knight Kim Bong-sik" at Marub Games. The company’s notable titles include the globally popular "Penguin Isle," which reached 30 million downloads, and "Souls," which surpassed 100 billion KRW in cumulative global revenue.
Both "Penguin Isle" and "Souls" were launched in major markets such as North America and Europe under a publishing contract with Habby, the global game publisher known for "Archero." As a result, 85% of Phantom's total revenue now comes from overseas markets.
In addition to this acquisition, Neptune has been actively investing in and acquiring mobile game developers with exceptional development capabilities and success in the global market, in an effort to strengthen its competitiveness in the gaming industry.
Since 2019, Neptune has expanded its business portfolio by acquiring seven internal development studios and subsidiaries, including Enfly Studio in 2019, Triple A in 2021, Play Hard, and most recently, IK Games last year.
