[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics is expected to conduct its year-end executive appointments as early as November 27.

According to industry sources on the 26th, the company has begun notifying some executives, particularly within the Device Solutions (DS) division, which oversees the semiconductor business, about their retirement. This process reportedly started the previous day.

Traditionally, Samsung announces executive appointments, organizational changes, and promotions sequentially in early December. However, last year, the schedule was advanced to late November. This year, the timeline appears to have been similarly moved up, reflecting efforts to address ongoing challenges and prepare for the future.

It is anticipated that Samsung will announce top executive appointments on the 27th, followed by promotions and organizational restructuring. The scale of promotions is expected to be smaller than usual.

The DS division, facing performance struggles, is likely to see significant personnel and structural changes, including potential replacements of some business unit heads.

Key personnel speculated to take on new roles include Jang Deok-hyun, CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics; Han Jin-man, Vice President overseeing the DS division in the Americas; Nam Seok-woo, Head of Manufacturing & Technology; and Song Jae-hyuk, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head of the Semiconductor R&D Center.

The current "dual leadership" structure, with Han Jong-hee leading the Device eXperience (DX) division and Jeon Young-hyun heading the DS division, is expected to remain intact. However, the role of the Business Support Task Force, led by Vice Chairman Jung Hyun-ho, may undergo adjustments.

Samsung plans to conclude its personnel changes and restructuring before hosting a global strategy meeting in mid-December to finalize its business plans for the coming year.
