[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] SEOUL, June 18 – The Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office has dismissed criminal charges against Koo Bon-Neung, Chairman of Heesung Group, and Ha Beom-Jong, President of LG Corp., who had been accused of special theft and property damage related to the estate of the late Koo Bon-Moo, former Chairman of LG Group.

The charges were initially filed by Koo’s widow, Kim Young-Sik, and his eldest daughter, Koo Yeon-Kyung, head of the LG Welfare Foundation, who claimed that Koo Bon-Neung and Ha Beom-Jong had unlawfully accessed the deceased chairman’s private safes at his residence in Gonjian and office in LG Twin Towers to retrieve his will.

The prosecution stated there was insufficient evidence to support the accusations and concluded there were no criminal grounds. The police had previously reached the same conclusion, stating that Koo Bon-Neung had notified the family about accessing the safe and that there was no clear indication of objection or demand for the return of any items.

The case had been transferred to prosecutors after the plaintiffs filed an objection to the police’s non-indictment decision in April.
