[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] The European Union (EU) will impose anti-dumping duties of up to 36.4% on Chinese biodiesel, according to a report by Bloomberg on the 19th (local time).
The European Commission (EC) announced that provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 12.8% to 36.4% will be applied to Chinese biodiesel starting in four weeks. Whether these duties will be confirmed as final for a five-year period will be decided after the completion of the EC's anti-dumping investigation early next year.
The investigation was initiated in response to a complaint from the European Biodiesel Board (EBB), which represents EU biodiesel producers, who alleged that Chinese biodiesel was being sold at unfairly low prices.
Biodiesel is a renewable fuel made from plant oils or animal fats.
