[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] After over four years of navigating merger procedures, Korean Air is set to officially acquire Asiana Airlines as a subsidiary on December 11.

Korean Air announced its participation in Asiana Airlines' third-party allocation capital increase scheduled for that day. The airline will invest KRW 1.5 trillion to acquire approximately 131.57 million newly issued shares, representing a 63.9% stake.

Once the final payment is completed, Korean Air will become the largest shareholder of Asiana Airlines, officially making it a subsidiary.
