[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] LG Electronics is accelerating its transition to a "smart life solutions" company by increasing its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and deep tech.

On August 18, LG Electronics announced its participation as a major limited partner (LP) in the newly established ‘Alpha Intelligence Fund’ created by SBVA. The fund has a total size of $130 million (approximately 1.8 trillion won), with LG Electronics committing $10 million (about 138 billion won).

SBVA will focus the Alpha Intelligence Fund on startups with high growth potential in AI, deep tech, and robotics. The fund aims to leverage SBVA’s global network and resources to help these startups achieve significant growth and outcomes.

SBVA has been investing in global startups for over 20 years, strengthening its expertise in information and communication technology (ICT) and expanding its overseas network. By participating in the SBVA fund, LG Electronics plans to stay abreast of rapidly evolving technology trends and integrate these global market changes into its management strategy.
