[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Naver’s mobile user-generated content (UGC) platform, "Post," will end its service after 12 years, with the closure scheduled for April 30, 2025.
According to Naver on the 10th, the Post operations team announced through a notice that the platform would cease on the aforementioned date. Launched in 2013, Post was created to be a mobile-optimized content platform, thriving alongside the rise of smartphones, and quickly became a space for professional creators to engage and share their expertise.
The team expressed gratitude for the growth and contributions of diverse creators, saying, "We are thankful for the time spent together growing with a variety of subjects, creators' professional knowledge, and experiences. We hope that creative activities continue to thrive in various spaces."
Naver explained that the closure of Post was part of its strategy to focus on revitalizing its creator ecosystem through other platforms like Blog and Clip (a short-form platform). While Post differentiated itself with its mobile-optimized usability and professional creator focus, its influence diminished due to changes in the internet market environment and trends in social media.
To protect user-generated content, Naver will offer backup files and data migration services. Starting from March 31, 2025, users can back up their posts, and both posts and subscription information can be transferred to Naver Blog. The transfer request period will begin on January 6, 2025, at 4 p.m. Users who only subscribed without creating content will also be able to receive new posts from creators they followed via Naver Blog after migrating their subscriptions.
This decision is seen as part of Naver’s strategy to integrate its creative ecosystem around platforms like Blog and Clip, thereby strengthening its competitiveness, particularly focusing on short-form content and leveraging the role of Blog to support creators.
